5 top tips to help you plan the perfect visit

Even if you are a regular MMF fan, this year we have something completely different for you!

Our new home is at 35 Johnston St, Collingwood, where our great friends at Circus Oz have not only allowed us to use their fantastic Melba Spiegeltent, but have created three completely new venues for us to use.

If you are planning a trip to the Festival Hub this year – here are a few tips to help you have the most magical day possible:

If you know what day you are coming, check out the BROWSE BY DATE schedule on the front page of our website and you’ll find it quite possible to see several completely different shows in the one visit.

Otherwise,go to ALL SHOWS and see which shows appeal to you most.

You can also narrow your search down by choosing just KIDS SHOWS, FAMILY SHOWS, ADULTS SHOWS, CLASSES & WORKSHOPS or MUST SEES. You can even check out the Director’s recommendations HERE.

Booking online not only saves you time, but you can also take advantage of $12 TUESDAYS, GROUP DISCOUNTS, FAMILY DISCOUNTS, HAT TRICK DISCOUNTS and – if you keep an eye on our Facebook Page – lots of super special offers too!

Plus, you’ll get your ticket to print at home or store on your phone. No need to line up at the Box Office when you arrive – you can go straight to the bar in Magic Central and relax!

If you have never been to the Melba Spiegeltent before, allow plenty of time to find a park or, better still, come in by public transport.

If you plan to buy tickets when you arrive, we recommend arriving 30 minutes before showtime just in case there’s a line at the box office.

There are LOTS of fantastic cafes, restaurants, and shops in Smith St and Johnston St, so catch a show in the morning, grab some lunch, and come back and see another in the afternoon.

If you’re coming in after work, enjoy a drink in our Magic Central bar before the early show and grab a quick snack before your next show – or do a HAT TRICK and catch three shows in the one night and get a late dinner in Smith St afterwards. There are some fantastic restaurants and cafes that stay open very late. (Foresters Hall has great pizza until 2am!)

Most of the shows allow you to take photos during the show – and if one of your group ends up the star of the show you’re going to want to immortalise that moment on social media!

You can’t shoot video during the shows, but there are so many magicians mingling in Magic Central before and after the shows, ask them to show you a trick so you can film it and share the amazement with all your friends online.
