5 top tips to help you plan the perfect visit

We are so excited to welcome you back to our Hub Arrow on Swanston in 2023.

Our home is Arrow on Swanston at 488 Swanston St, Melbourne where, in addition to having a lovely warm Magic Central to hang out in between shows, we have four brand new theatres to cast our spells in.

Plus, if you’re visiting from interstate or overseas you can grab a room and stay at the Festival itself for as little as $90 a night!

If you are planning a trip to the Festival Hub this year – here are a few tips to help you have the most magical day possible:

#1 - PLAN AHEAD

If you know what day you are coming, you’ll find it quite easy to see several completely different shows in the one visit.

You can see what’s playing on a particular day, or browse all the shows and see which ones appeal to you most.

You can also narrow your search down by choosing the date or the category that suits your group best: Kids Shows, Family Shows, Adults Shows or Workshops (where you can learn the tricks of the trade)!

#2 - BOOK IN ADVANCE

Booking online not only saves you time, but you can also take advantage of $17 Tuesday, Group Discounts, Family Tickets and use one of those elusive code words that magically grants you discounts from 10% to 50% on selected shows!

Keep an eye on our Facebook Page for lots of super special offers too!

Plus, you can either print your ticket at home or store it on your phone (don’t forget to keep it fully charged!). No need to line up at the Box Office when you arrive… because there IS NO BOX OFFICE! When you arrive you can go straight to the bar in Magic Central and relax!

#3 - PARKING OR PUBLIC TRANSPORT?

If you have never been to the Festival before, we always recommend allowing plenty of time to find a park or, better still, come in by tram or train!

We recommend arriving 30 minutes before showtime so you can fully explore Magic Central and be ready to be escorted to your Theatre 10 minutes before showtime.

#4 - MAKE A DAY OF IT

There are LOTS of fantastic cafes, restaurants, and shops in the area, so catch a show in the morning, grab some lunch, and come back and see another in the afternoon.

If you’re coming in after work, enjoy a drink in our Magic Central bar before the early show and grab a quick snack before your next show – or catch three shows in the one night and get a late dinner in afterwards.

There are some fantastic restaurants and cafes that stay open very late. Including the 24 hour Ramen House, Shujinko, a short walk away in Russell St.

#5 - BRING A CAMERA

Most of the shows allow you to take photos during the show – and if one of your group ends up the star of the show you’re going to want to immortalise that moment on social media!

You can’t shoot video during the shows, but there are so many magicians mingling in Magic Central before and after the shows, ask them to show you a trick so you can film it and share the amazement with all your friends online.
