Frequently Asked Questions
So many shows! I’m so confused.. what do I see?
Yes, there are a LOT of shows! Magic is a very diverse artform full of many different styles and types of shows. The easiest option for a first time visitor is to go to a GALA SHOWS where you’ll see a dozen different performers in the one show. That way you can instantly decide who you’d like to see more of and then grab tickets to their shows later in the week.
We also strongly recommend seeing our INTERNATIONAL GUEST ARTISTS. We spend a lot of money bringing them to Melbourne because we KNOW you’ll enjoy their shows!. Plus, a safe bet is usually any show in the HOUDINI THEATRE. That is our largest venue and only the most popular shows are staged there.
Do I need to buy tickets or is it free?
The Melbourne Magic Festival is similar to the Comedy Festival. It is a collection of different shows produced by many, many different magicians. You can buy tickets to the shows online, there are discounts available here.
There are some free shows & events, and we have Magic Central at the Arrow Hub where you can buy a drink and meet the magicians before and after the shows.
Do I need to buy tickets online?
HUB EVENTS – You must buy your tickets online. You can even use your phone to buy tickets at the door and our staff are happy to assist. It’s as easy as clicking on the BUY NOW button and presenting the ticket your device, or you can print it out in advance if you prefer.
SATELLITE VENUES – Each has their own ticketing options: online, phone and in person. Click on their listing to find out.
Is the seating reserved or general admission?
Ticketing at the Magic Festival is general admission seating. We recommend you arrive early if you want to try to nab the front row.
We do offer reserved VIP seating in the front three rows but only for our MMF STAGE GALA SHOW
Are there any other locations I see Magic Festival shows?
Yes! Every year we produce shows all over Melbourne. From Northcote, Malvern, Mount Waverley, St Albans, and even Geelong! Most of these take place during the Satellite week of the Festival.
Do you accept Companion Cards?
HUB EVENTS – Yes, we do! When a guest buys a regular ticket, if they have a government issued Companion Card they can also purchase this ticket at no charge for their companion to assist them in attending the show. (Please bring your Companion Card to present to the usher before entry).
SATELLITE EVENTS – This varies from venue to venue. Please check when booking.
