“Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamed of flying,” David Blaine intones in the trailer for his new stunt, Ascension. Blaine’s going to do a sort of tribute act to either Mary Poppins or Pixar’s Up by floating over the Hudson strapped underneath a bunch of helium balloons at approximately 25,000 feet on 31 August. Blaine has said he hopes to reach the height of Mount Everest, which is 29,029 feet high, as he floats across the Hudson River, from New Jersey to New York city.
“This stunt has been 10 years in the making,” Blaine, 47, tweeted Wednesday. “Let’s turn worry into wonder and take magic to new heights.”
David Blaine: Ascension will broadcast live on YouTube on 31 August, 8.00pm AEST
